| O.S.C.A Hobby Truck Rules 2011 |
All parts must remain unaltered OEM parts, for make, model,
and year, unless otherwise specified.
OEM= Original Equipment Manufacturer - this means stock for that make/model/year or
available over the counter OEM replacement.
These rules are in addition to the General Vehicle Rules section and are Hobby Truck class specific.
A. BODIES
1. a. Open to any North American, 116" minimum wheelbase,
rear wheel drive, 1/2 ton truck.
b. "NO" cars, unibodies, vans, SUV's, 3/4-1 ton, four wheel drive or front wheel
drive vehicles allowed.
2. a. External steel body must be stock in appearance,
NO aftermarket bodies allowed, all replacement panels must be constructed of
steel.
b. "NO" gutting of any external panels except front inner wheel wells.
c. Aftermarket nose cover allowed.
d. Wheel openings may be radiused to a maximum of 5".
e. Hood and must be secured by quick release pins, 2 if hinged, 4 if lift off.
f. MANDATORY for all race vehicles to have secured hoods while on
the track (unless occured damage during the race day prevents their use).
3. a. Stock floor and firewalls MUST remain in original
location.
b."NO" gutting of any internal panels except room for roll cage door
bars.
c. All holes in the front and rear firewalls must be filled with steel.
d."NO" flammable or loose objects allowed in the interior or exterior of the
vehicle.
e."NO" galvanized tin or metal allowed anywhere in or on truck.
f. "NO" sheet metal screws allowed in or on truck
4. a. Truck minimum weight to be 3,800 lbs with driver.
5. a. Ballast allowed mounted securely by 2 x 1/2"
bolts and must be painted white with car number clearly marked.
6. a. All glass except windshield must be removed.
b. Windshield which MUST be safety glass OR minimum 1/8" thick LEXAN.
c. Glass windshields MUST have a minimum of 4 safety clips composed of at least 1/8"
X 1" X 6" steel.
d. LEXAN windshields MUST be securely fastened with 3/16" diameter pop rivets with
½" heads spaced a maximum of 8" apart.
e. Windshield may be replaced by MINIMUM 3 x 1/2" vertical round bars in front of
driver OR thick 1/8" (10ga.) wire mesh (2" max)
B. BUMPERS/RUB BARS
1. a. Stock appearing bumpers in stock locations or
replacement that acts as a bumper. (tubing allowed)
b. Bumpers may be reinforced from behind or inside the body with metal gouge guards
installed and attached from bumper to body panel.
c. NO sharp protrusions from vehicle. Ends of reinforcement under nose and
tail covers must have rounded ends.
d. Tow chains or straps MANDATORY mounted to frame/bumper, one in the front and one in the
rear of the truck.
e. Rub rails allowed, mounted a maximum of one inch from body, run from tire to tire, with
a maximum overhang on either end of 4
C. FRAME, STEERING AND SUSPENSION
1. a. Unaltered OEM frame must be used. No mounting points
may be altered.
b. ALL Control arms, steering components and ball joints are to remain stock and in stock
location for make, model, and year. .
bb: (Coil spring style
front clip may be added if original model year didn't come equipped that way)
c. "NO" aluminum suspension components or aftermarket pan hard bars/traction
bars allowed.
d. Neoprene and polyurethane bushings allowed.
2. a. Stock steel springs ONLY, mounted in the stock
location.
b. "NO" weight jacks, spring spacers or sliders allowed..
3. a. All shocks must be stock steel type, in stock location, mounted with the stock mounts, one per wheel, maximum 4 per truck, "NO" race type, coil overs or adjustable allowed.
D. BRAKES
1. a. Brakes must be stock front disc/rear drum
combination for make, model, and year of chassis, operative four wheels
b. "NO" front drum brakes allowed.
c. NO aluminum drums or components at wheel (aluminum master cylinders
allowed).
d. "NO" modifications allowed to stock steel rotors or drums other than
resurfacing and stud hole modification.
e. Stock cast iron master cylinder must be in stock location, with NO plastic
lines, NO brake shut off devices.
E. COOLING SYSTEM
1. a. Cooling systems may be modified, aluminum radiators
allowed, maximum of one radiator, mounted in front of engine
b. Any over flow tubes must be directed to overflow tank mounted in engine compartment.
F. REAR DIFFERENTIAL/DRIVESHAFT
1. a. Stock truck rear ends permitted in stock location
with non adjustable mounts, for make, model and year of vehicle.
b. NO quick change, locker or floater type rear ends.
c. Rear end may be locked by either mini steel spool or welded.
d. NO electronic traction control devices allowed.
3. a. Two drive shaft hoops MANDATORY minimum ¼" by
2" flat steel or 5/16" chain mounted within 1 foot from front and rear U joint.
b. MANDATORY WHITE painted steel drive shaft.
G. TRANSMISSIONS
1. a. MUST be stock production type automatic
transmissions ONLY, in stock case with stock convertor..
b. MUST have all stock forward, reverse and neutral gears operable.
c. With motor running and car at a stand still, driver must be able to engage car in gear
and move forward then backward.
H. TIRES
1. a. Racing brand tire: .
aa: Tires must be
Goodyear Eagle short track special G-32, G65 compound, designation 2965 and 2966.
bb: (Other currently
owned type tires are grandfathered until 2012), Maximum G-60-15 racing tire.
b. Street DOT radial tire..
aa. maximum 255mm cross
section
bb. minimum 60 series height
cc. ONLY 15" rim
c. NO softening of tires allowed.
d. Tires must be in decent shape as determined by Technical committee.
I. WHEELS
1. a. All wheels must be of steel construction and no
larger than 15" x 8", IMCA approved racing wheels recommended
b. NO aluminum, unilug or magnesium wheels allowed.
c. Wheels must be welded 360 degrees
2. a. 1 lug nuts mandatory with steel wheel studs
only (5/8" coarse thread recommended), extending past nut threads when rim is
mounted.
J. FUEL/FUEL SYSTEM
1. a. Carburetor can be any single stock UNMODIFIED
carburetor, "NO" Holley, aftermarket, upgraded stock or racing types of any
kind.

b. MANDATORY two return springs
c. "NO" spacers allowed.
d. Paper or washable foam, 5 maximum height.
e. NO fuel injection, "NO" electric fuel pumps on any car,
turbo/super chargers or cool cans, NOS etc
3. a. Only regular or premium pump gas sold by service
stations may be used for fuel.
b. NO racing fuels, additives or additions to the fuel are allowed. No nitrous
oxide, propane, airplane fuel, alcohol or other oxidizers are permitted.
L. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
M. SAFETY EQUIPMENT/ROLL CAGE
N. ENGINES
1. BLOCK
a. All engines used in competition must be able to be used in a conventional passenger car
or truck without alteration.
b. Corporate to corporate engines only, GM to GM, Ford to Ford, Chrysler to Chrysler etc.
c. Stock cast iron block only.
d. 9:1 compression ratio maximum, decking of block allowed only for straightness.
e. Maximum displacement allowed (with maximum 0.060" overbore): Chevrolet
360cid, Ford 362cid; Chrysler 370cid; Oldsmobile 360cid, Pontiac 360cid, Buick 360cid.
f. NO strokers.
g."NO" changing of stock engine firing order
h. NO dry sump oil systems, gear drives or belts. non-stock harmonic balancers
or Marine type parts permitted.
2. HEADS/ VALVE TRAIN
a. Cast iron stock 2 or 4 barrel intakes only.
b. Cast iron stock heads only, milling of head allowed only for straightness. No
Vortec, Bowtie, W-2 or GT-40 types allowed
c. NO solid or roller camshafts
d. "NO" machining permitted to install cam or modifying of lifter bores
from stock dimensions.
e. "NO" modified hydraulic, solid, roller, mushroom step or roller tip
rockers/lifters.
f. "NO" porting, polishing or grinding or any other alterations allowed
in ports or combustion chambers, except for valve guides, seats and oil passage holes.
3. EXHAUST
a. Stock cast iron exhaust manifolds ONLY. "NO" stock or aftermarket
tubular headers of any type allowed..
b. Exhaust must exit behind driver and not through cockpit, recommend exhaust
exiting left side of car, away from spectators.
4. IGNITION
a. Stock OEM style ignition, locking of advance mechanism allowed.
b. NO aftermarket ignition boxes or magneto ignitions.
5. ENGINE PLACEMENT
a. Engine location must be stock, mounted on stock or solid motor mounts, if not equipped
with clamshell type mounts, engine MUST be chained down to frame..
b. Motor must be placed so that fuel pump is forward of front cross member.
