O.S.C.A. Street Stock Rules – 2011


Street Stock is one of the most popular forms of stock car racing in North America.
An advanced level of stock car racing, where more modifications are permitted allowing a faster style of racing.

These rules are in addition to the General Vehicle Rules section and are Street Stock class specific.



A. BODIES

1.   a. Open to any North American, 104" minimum wheelbase, rear wheel drive car.
b. "NO" convertibles, trucks, vans, SUV's, four wheel drive or front wheel drive vehicles allowed..

c. "NO" station wagons with wheelbases over 108" allowed.

2.   a. Exterior body panels may be constructed of metal or fiberglass.
b. Aftermarket or hand made nose and rear covers allowed.

c. MANDATORY for all race vehicles to have secured hoods and trunks while on the track (unless damage during the race day prevents their use).
d. Hood and trunk must be secured by quick release pins, 2 if hinged, 4 if lift off.
e. Rear of hood should be sealed off at firewall.

3.   a. Interiors must be completely sealed with fire resistant material to prevent smoke, ground debris and fire from entering the cockpit.
b. All flammable or loose objects or materials must be removed from the interior/exterior of the car.

c "NO" galvanized tin or metal allowed anywhere in or on car.
d."NO" sheet metal screws allowed in or on car

4.   a. Car minimum weight to be 3,200 pounds with driver.

5.   a. Ballast allowed mounted securely by 2 x 1/2" bolts and must be painted white with car number clearly marked.

6.   a. All glass except windshield must be removed.
b. Windshield which MUST be full width safety glass OR minimum 1/8" thick LEXAN.
c. Glass windshields MUST have a minimum of 4 safety clips composed of at least 1/8" X 1" X 6" steel.
d. LEXAN windshields MUST be securely fastened with 3/16" diameter pop rivets with ½" heads spaced a maximum of 8" apart.
e. Windshield may be replaced by MINIMUM 3 x 1/2" vertical round bars in front of driver OR thick 1/8" (10ga.) wire mesh (2" max)

B. BUMPERS/RUB BARS

1.   a. “NO” sharp protrusions from vehicle. Ends of reinforcement under nose and tail covers must have rounded ends.
b. Tow chains or straps MANDATORY mounted to frame/bumper, one in the front and one in the rear of the car.
c. Rub rails allowed, mounted a maximum of one inch from body, run from tire to tire, with a maximum overhang on either end of 4”

C. FRAME, STEERING AND SUSPENSION

1.   a. OEM appearing frame must be retained from the front of the steering box, to behind the rear differential with alterations allowed
b. OEM appearing control arms and trailing arms, in the OEM appearing configuration, with alterations/reinforcing allowed.
c. OEM appearing, one piece solid steel type sway bars only.
d. OEM cast iron front spindles must be used.
e. OEM type steering box only, or OEM rack and pinion units if they are used on a frame that was OEM rack and pinion.
f.  All steering parts must be steel other than an aluminium steering wheel and hub are allowed.

2.   a. OEM steel or steel racing springs allowed in stock OEM location for frame used..
b. Weight jacks, threaded adjustable spring spacers and sliders allowed.

3.   a. Shocks must be non adjustable, non rebuildable, non revalvable, steel bodied, one per wheel, maximum 4 per car.

4.   a. Optional 2 u-joints in steering shaft, not in a straight line or collapsible shaft (minimum stock OEM column)

D. BRAKES

1.   a. OEM type master cylinder must be in stock location, with “NO” plastic lines, “NO” brake shut off devices.
b. OEM type cast iron single piston calipers, 1 brake line each, "NO" floating caliper brackets.

c. "NO" modifications allowed to rotors or drums other than resurfacing and stud hole modification
d. “NO” aluminum drums or components at wheel (aluminum master cylinders allowed).

E. COOLING SYSTEM

1.   a. Maximum of one radiator in car mounted in front of engine
b. Any over flow tubes must be directed to overflow tank mounted in engine compartment..
c. “NO” "Hot" auxiliary cooling components allowed in cockpit.

F. REAR DIFFERENTIAL/DRIVESHAFT

1.   a. OEM passenger car or truck rear ends permitted.
b. Floating hub assembles allowed.
d. “NO” locker or quick change types allowed.

2.   a. Rear end MUST be locked by either mini steel spool, full steel spool or welded spiders.
b. “NO” electronic traction control devices allowed.

3.   a. Two drive shaft hoops MANDATORY minimum ¼" by 2" flat steel or 5/16" chain mounted within 1 foot from front and rear U joint.
b. MANDATORY “WHITE” painted steel (no aluminum) drive shaft.

G. TRANSMISSIONS

1.   a. Only OEM production type transmissions will be allowed.
b. Must have all stock forward, reverse and neutral gears operable.

2.   a. Recommended explosion proof steel bell housing or MANDATORY minimum steel 3/16" x 3" x 180 degrees scatter shield
b. Manual type transmission must have a standard OEM style case.

3.   a. Automatic type transmissions must remain in OEM stock appearing automatic case with original bell housing.

H. TIRES

1.   a. Racing brand tire: .
           aa: Tires must be Goodyear Eagle short track special G-32, G65 compound, designation 2965 and 2966.
           bb: (Other currently owned type tires are grandfathered until 2012), Maximum G-60-15 racing tire or 275-60-15 radial
b. “NO” softening of tires allowed.
c. Tires must be in decent shape as determined by Technical committee.

I. WHEELS

1.   a. All wheels must be of steel construction and no larger than 15" x 8", IMCA approved racing wheels recommended
b. “NO” aluminum, unilug or magnesium wheels allowed.
c. Wheels must be welded 360 degrees
d. Any offset allowed.

2.   a. 1” lug nuts mandatory.
b. Steel wheel studs only (5/8" coarse thread recommended), extending past nut threads when rim is mounted.

J. FUEL/FUEL SYSTEM

1.   a. MANDATORY two return springs.
b. “NO” fuel injection, "NO" electric fuel pumps on any car, turbo/super chargers or cool cans, NOS etcc.
c. No nitrous oxide, propane, airplane fuel, alcohol or other oxidizers are permitted.

L. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

1.   a. Only one battery per car, MUST be located BEHIND the driver or in front of the firewall.
b. MUST be securely fastened to frame or cage and contained in a marine type box or other approved battery box.
c. Battery fasteners must be 1/8” X 1” steel strap or 3/8” rod minimum

2.   a. MANDATORY battery disconnect switch must kill engine and be clearly marked “OFF” and “ON” and must be within reach of driver and outside support.
b. All positively charged terminals must be insulated with a cover.

3.   a. “NO” in car radios allowed. (except by OSCA tech approval)

M. SAFETY EQUIPMENT/ROLL CAGE/FUEL CELL

1.   Must be fitted as per General Vehicle Rules

N. ENGINES

1.   BUILT ENGINES (BLOCK)
a. All engines must use an OEM production cast iron block.
b. Maximum 10:1 compression allowed.
c. Maximum displacement allowed (with maximum 0.060" overbore): Chevrolet 360cid, Ford 362cid; Chrysler 370cid; Oldsmobile 360cid, Pontiac 360cid, Buick 360cid.
d. “NO” dry sump oil systems.

2.  BUILT ENGINES (HEADS/ INTAKE)
a. Cast iron OEM heads only, “NO” GM Vortec, W2, Dodge Magnum, Ford Racing or Bow-Tie types allowed.
b. Cast iron intakes may be used with a 4bbl carb.
c. Aftermarket dual plane aluminum intake, or a low plenum single plane aluminum intake may be used with a maximum 500cfm 2bbl carb.

3.  BUILT ENGINES (EXHAUST)
a. Cast iron OEM exhaust manifolds may be used with a 4bbl carb.
b. Aftermarket tubular headers may be used with a maximum 500cfm 2bbl carb.
c. "NO" exhaust system may be routed through cockpit and must exit behind driver.
d. Recommend exhaust exiting left side of car, away from spectators.

6. GM CRATE MOTOR (GM part#88958602)
a."602 Crate" (GM part #88958602) engine allowed ONLY with all original sealing bolts in place (unless by tech approval).
b."602 Crate" may use 4bbl carb and aftermarket tubular headers.

5.  ENGINE PLACEMENT (ALL TYPES)
a. Engine location must be stock, if not equipped with clamshell type mounts, engine MUST be chained down to frame..
b. Motor must be placed so that fuel pump is forward of front cross member.
